AN EVALUATION OF THE IMPACT OF THE VIRGINIA DRIVER IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM. WORKING PLAN

The purpose of this study is twofold. The primary goal is to detemrine the impact of the Driver Improvement Program on Virginia's traffic and safety environment in terms of accidents and traffic convictions averted as a result of appropriate treatment. A secondary but very important function of the study, however, is to establish an ongoing system of data collection to be used independently by the Division of Motor Vehicles. The data gathered through this system can be used to continually evaluate the effectiveness of the Driver Improvement Programs and to establish statewide norms for administrative evaluations. /Author/
