SELECTION AND APPLICATION OF MATERIALS FOR STRUCTURAL REPAIRS

CHOIX ET APPLICATION DES PRODUITS DE REPARATION DES OUVRAGES EN BETON-GUIDE

This publication deals with materials used for repair: (1) conventional materials (hydraulic binders); (2) new (thermoplastic and thermosetting binders called "resins"). Its aim is to guide the user in the choice of the material best adapted to his need. It must be used in conjunction with a manual on repair methods. The first chapter presents a general discussion on different materials presently available, and distinguishes between two types of repair: external (spalling, microcracks, shallow cracks, localized failure), internal (injection of deep cracks and cavities). Chapter 2 deals with the terminology of external defects and repairs, the latter being divided into smoothing operations or repair thicker than 2 cm. Chapter 3 deals with the terminology of internal defects and repairs. Internal defects are divided into stabilized or active cracks.
