"Honey I've sunk the railway line. Do you want me to tidy up the rest of the town?" [City of Subiaco Central Development Plan]
The Subi Centro redevelopment is a highly awarded transit oriented redevelopment project centred around a sunken railway station that has become the new hub for an array of successful commercial and residential developments. In response to the redevelopment project the old town of Subiaco has been experiencing development pressures that threaten to undermine the very features that make it attractive and a very healthy local economic centre. Arguably one of Australias best main streets the established Subiaco town centre, sitting adjacent the redevelopment project, could be a victim of the projects success. The challenge is to maintain a strategic view and make plans and provision for decisions that envisage a future that is still over the horizon. To these ends the City of Subiaco has developed the Subiaco Central Development Plan. That Plan and its development will be Explained.
