Design and Installation of Torque Anchors for Tiebacks and Foundations

It was proposed that the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Missouri, Rolla, develop a comprehensive construction and design manual for helical anchors and foundation systems. The design manual will bring together the state-of-the-art in helical anchor and foundation system design and the state-of-the-practice in helical anchor and foundation system construction. The scope of work was as follows: (1) Conduct a thorough review of existing literature; (2) Interview key personnel who have experience in the design and construction of helical anchors and foundation systems to define successful installation techniques; (3) Compile the information into a comprehensive document that would serve as a reference for both designers and installers of helical anchors and foundation systems; (4) Develop design software based on the state-of-the-art design procedures for helical anchors and foundation systems; and (5) Present the results of this work in appropriate forums including geotechnical engineering journals and research symposia.
