THE AUTOMATION SYSTEMS INSTALLED IN THE MOTORSHIP KOTOVSKII

SISTEMY AVTOMATIZATSII TEPLOKHODA KOTOVSKII

The Kotovskiys propulsion plant is equipped with a Fiat Sepa 6701 composite automation system. This Italian system is experimental, and this is the first time it has been installed in a merchant ship, the firm drew deeply on its automating experience in automobile building, machine building, and aviation. This automation system comprises four independent control groups (main engine, diesel- generators, ships systems and auxiliaries, and refrigeration plant). All groups have a great many interchangeable units. The plans, in addition to control automation, call for a developed system of centralized monitoring with audible, visual, and recording outlets, as well as direct and return coupling with the control groups. The centralized monitoring system and the control groups are interconnected through an electronic semiconductor logical coordinator. (Author)
