COMPORTEMENT DES PIEUX SOLLICITES HORIZONTALEMENT

Existing design methods are reviewed together with theoretical and experimental results obtained. A study is presented of the behaviour of the soil, assuming the phenomenon to be two-dimensional in plane deformations. Local soil/pile interaction problems are investigated together with the influence of the shape, extraction, soil disturbance and intervals between piles. Three-dimensional calculations are used to solve the problem. The object of the soil/pile systems and see the range of validity of two-dimensional studies, to make two-dimensional studies operational and to investigate the similarity of results obtained with simplified design methods (constant reaction modulus with depth) and three-dimensional calculations. /TRRL/
