Use a Good “TOP-DOWN” Design to Train Students’ Abilities
This paper introduces the “TOP-DOWN” approach to the design of courses in higher maritime education. In an effort to improve the students’ abilities to meet the requirements of the global maritime transport development, the paper proposes to change the education plan from teaching the students the knowledge requirements to an approach which trains their abilities. In that way students will better able to comply with the human resource requirements for officers and engineers in the area of global maritime transport.
