VISIBILITY IN RAIN AND DARKNESS

Some proposed remedial measures for the road include extensive use of light-coloured, rough road surfaces, especially on both sides of pedestrian crossings. For the pedestrian consistent use of reflective strips on rainwear and other outdoor wear, and development of pedestrian light signals which are easier to see and interpret are recommended. For the Bicycle yellow/orange retro-reflectors at the rear and on the sides of the wheels, plus a white retro-reflector at the front and lighting equipment that requires less power to operate are proposed; while for the vehicle use of headlamps with strongly concentrated beams parallel to the road, or scanning beams, use of retro-reflective licence plates and effective wipers on front and rear windows and on lamps are recommended. /Author/
