AN APPLICATION OF THE SPIRAL COMPUTER-AIDED SHIP DESIGN EDUCATION SYSTEM TO AN ELEMENTARY PROBLEM IN NAVAL ARCHITECTURE

An exercise in ship hull buoyancy and stability is described. Its most significant feature is a digital computer program that checks answers, and provides a critique to the student providing these answers. This computer support can be used in several ways to aid in teaching of buoyancy and stability principles.
