Parking is No. 1 in Patient Satisfaction
This article describes the importance of designing adequate parking at health care facilities such as hospitals. The author suggests that hospitals have changed considerably in 30 years; they are more like office buildings than they once were when determining required parking was based on the number of beds in a facility. Now, due to the large number of people working at hospitals, and the emphasis on outpatient health care procedures, the new standard for determining required parking is based on the maximum number of employees on any one shift--typically between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The author discusses various strategies that healthcare facilities should consider as they contemplate parking issues.
