THE OLDER PEDESTRIAN, CYCLIST AND MOPED DRIVER IN TRAFFIC

DE OUDERE VOETGANGER, FIETSER EN BROMFIETSER IN HET VERKEER

Background documentation is presented for the safety campaign "show what you want". Almost 11% of the Dutch population is over 65 years old. The greater part of these elderly people are daily participants in traffic. But this traffic raises specific problems for the older road user. In this safety campaign for the older pedestrian, cyclist and motorcyclist it is emphasized that they should clearly show the direction in which they want to go, that they should use the priority rules correctly and that on the other hand the automobile driver should be aware of their presence on the road, in particular during peak hours. /TRRL/
