The RGC&U project - tunnel fires
The Reseau Genie Civil & Urbain (RGC&U) project relevant to fires in tunnel aims at providing a characterization of the transfer phenomena which develops as a consequence of the interaction of the longitudinal flow with the physical confinement and the mechanical or natural ventilation effects. The aim of the project is a better knowledge of the mechanisms that may interact with the people safety during a fire. Since the ventilation system is the only available means to produce an active control of the smoke development, the project's goal is a set of recommendations aimed at optimizing the ventilation equipment, as well as the definition of the operation rules and, if possible, their automation.
