TRANSPORT OF DANGEROUS GOODS. RECOMMENDATIONS PREPARED BY THE COMMITTEE OF EXPERTS ON THE TRANSPORT OF DANGEROUS GOODS (REVISED EDITION)

These recommendations classify dangerous goods most commonly carried as follows: class 1 - explosives; class 2 - gases; class 3 - liquids; class 4 - inflammable solids; substances liable to spontaneous combustion; substances which on contact with water emit inflammable gases; class 5 - oxidizing substances; organic peroxides; class 6 - poisonous (toxic) and infectious substances; class 7 - radioactive substances; class 8 - corrosives; class 9 - miscellaneous dangerous substances. One chapter deals with special provisions relating to individual substances and articles, while separate chapters outline special recommendations relating to class 1, class 3, class 6 division 6.1, class 7 and class 8. General recommendations are given on packing for class 1, class 5 division 2. Recommendations on multimodal tank transport, consignment procedures and hazard information system are appended. /TRRL/
