PREDICTION OF ROAD TRAFFIC NOISE

BERAEKNING AV VAEGTRAFIKBULLER

This project is a development of a prediction method for road traffic noise which has previously been presented in Journal of Sound and Vibration and in the compendium community noise published by the Department of Building Acoustics, Lund Institute of Technology (1975). This method is presented in the form of a large number of attenuation curves for different terrain geometries. Using the given curves, the equivalent sound level in db(a), due to a road, can be calculated relatively easily. A complete computer program is also given for those with access to a minicomputer. The programming language is basic. This method has been tested under conditions met in Skaane, southern Sweden. Subject to certain modifications of the attenuation values, the method has been incorporated in the nordic calculation model for road traffic noise which is under preparation by the nordic council of ministers. /TRRL/
