Evaluation of fixed speed cameras in NSW

Police on-road enforcement of speeding has been demonstrated to be an effective measure. However, there are limitations on police enforcement of speeding. Police on-road resources are limited, and there are places along roads where speeding and associated crashes are a problem but there is no safe place for placing a police camera car or for pulling over speeding drivers. That is, if a length of road is known to have a combination of speeding and elevated crash record, enforcement of speeding is clearly desirable yet, by definition, it is a hazardous environment to conduct conventional on-road enforcement.
