Evaluation of Safety Factors on Forward Vehicle Collision Warning System

This paper investigates the safety factors and related parameters on forward vehicle collision warning system (FVCWS) for establishing safety regulations based on the international standard. This study has been conducted under a national ITS project which develops test and evaluation technologies for advanced safety vehicle (ASV) in establishing safety standards and/or regulations funded by the Ministry of Construction and Transportation (MOCT). The safety parameters presented in this study include the operational requirements with range of operating speed, detection ranges, warning time, etc. for FVCWS running safely on the highway. Findings of the field test conditions according to the predefined test scenarios are analyzed in order to provide the operational requirements on the national safety regulations for FVCWS.
