Over recent years there has been a growing demand for the provision of journey time information... This paper will consider some of the reasons for this and discusses the relative merits and value to a central government organization in developing a system for providing this information. The paper will also discuss the processes being developed to enhance journey time data derived from diverse sources with a view to using it as a reliable source of event monitoring for otherwise unmonitored roads.
