Rebuilding Yinchuan

Demand for air travel has skyrocketed recently in China putting tremendous pressure on existing airport facilities. This article describes plans for a new 323,000-square-foot international terminal at Yinchuan in the northwestern region of China. The proposed design is unique in that it recognizes the Muslim population of the region and incorporates Muslim influences into the building's architecture, such as arching steel columns that were inspired by ancient Muslim vaults.
