Creating a Framework for Mobile IP Test Bed - Global Collaboration for ITS Research at BITS Pilani

The aim of this collaboration was to undertake Joint ITS Research Studies for Mobility and create a Mobile IP Test Bed putting together research at Glocol, USA and BITS Pilani, India to develop partnerships for research on Mobile IP for ITS with other worldwide academic institutions ITS, due to its heavy integration, requires multi-disciplinary research in engineering disciplines. BITS, Pilani with its multi-disciplinary integrated approach provides an ideal faculty for research in this important area. With the BITSConnect project deployment, modern infrastructure for networking and communications including Internet, IP telephony, video conferencing and web-based delivery systems are being created at BITS Pilani - an ideal environment for ITS Infrastructure. The joint efforts for ITS research created an initial plan for collaboration with Glocol, US and California Center for Innovative Transportation located at UC, Berkeley - a special aspect proposed to be taken up in this area was Mobility. A research group ‘Aureole’ was further created at BITS Pilani as a web-based forum to study Mobile IP Architectures and create Test Beds and Guidelines for Testing. This paper reports some important key points from those frameworks for Mobile IP Test Bed.
