City Road Pricing with Side Mounted IR-DSRC
Congestion charging requirements are described, among them easy mounting on poles or buildings. The devices must be small and require little energy despite having an operating distance covering the full width of a four lane road. It is essential to deal with the question of enforcement. There must be exact matching possible between the communication zone and the license plate image. A number of radio and optical communication technologies are compared against the developed requirements.
