Automatic Analysis of Driving Offences: The Approach of the Czech Republic in the Area of Automatic Enforcement
Every day, thousands people are injured and almost hundreds people are killed on the roads of the whole world. In last decade, much attention has been paid to the developments of Intelligent Transport Systems. Nowadays ITS became key instruments to improve the quality of life of citizens, providing solution for the daily problems. One aim of the European transport policies is to improving of road safety and decrease number of car fatalities up to the half of present level since 2010. In the Czech Republic is the above mentioned target monitored, and implementation of some proposed measures should lead to an increase of road safety and above all to decrease the number of car accidents significantly on the roads in the Czech Republic, especially those with heavy consequences for the health. In accordance with strategic national road safety policy, CDV (Transport Research Centre) together with AŽD Praha (Prague) are involved in the PRESTUP Project. This project is focused on development and implementation of automated enforcement systems on the road network. The Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic funds this project sin January 2005 for next 42 months.
