Analysis of Effective Sentences of Voice Navigation System for the Visually Impaired Based on their Attributes and Locations

In order to realize walking environments where even the visually impaired can solely reach their destinations more safely and comfortably, we have already developed a voice navigation system for them. However, there are still requirements from the visually impaired to improve the contents of the walking information. Accordingly, we conducted a survey on necessary information for the visually impaired to walk solely and analyzed the survey results. As a result, necessary information depends on their attributes and also their locations. Generally, they need the information on construction of a structure such as a building and a station, and voice information from others. At a platform of a station, tactile paving is needed higher than other locations. From these results, contents to reconstruct effective sentences of the walking information are made clear so that the developed voice navigation system will be improved more effectively and practicably.
