ACTIF - The Evolution Of The Framework Architecture For ITS In France

At long last, ACTIF appears to have been acknowledged as an efficient tool for the design of intelligent transport systems, and is now regularly utilized by project owners and their designers. The aim of this presentation is to show how the latest changes in the project have led to this increased usage by the different stakeholders of ITS projects in France. The presentation will show different applications of ACTIF (co-ordination of emergency services in the Côtes d´Armor area, coordinated road information in Brittany). We also will show how feedback following such applications has been capitalized and integrated into the method, model, and tools and, last but not least, into the very meaning of the acronym “ACTIF”. The change of the meaning of ACTIF now appears as essential to a good strategy for its appropriation by stakeholders (project owners of transport systems and designers of ITS). ACTIF is not a “frame” imposed by the State on the professions and local authorities, it is an assistance to design ITS which could be inter-operable.
