Research into Safe Traffic of Lithuanian Railway Lines

This article presents a detailed analysis of traffic safety on railroads in Lithuania. It examines the distribution of train accidents and breakdowns from 1998-2003, as well as the reasons for the occurrences. The most common reasons cited for accidents included poor technical condition of rolling stock and infrastructure, human factors, and deficient organization of traffic. The study indicates a noticeable improvement in railroad traffic safety during the five year time period.
