Investigation of the interaction of an Automobile Wheel with a Vertical Obstacle
In this article, the author investigates the interaction of an automobile tire with a vertical obstacle, with the objective of determining the automobile’s speed prior to the collision. A methodology is presented which takes into account the amount of kinetic energy necessary for dismantling the wheel after the collision with the obstacle has occurred. The amount of automobile kinetic energy is considered to be equivalent to the automobile speed. Using this proposed methodology may allow for the possibility of calculating more precisely the automobile’s speed prior to the traffic accident.
