New start for LA Metro contracting
This article provides an overview of project procurement and contract management strategies for the Los Angeles Metro’s six-mile extension into East Los Angeles. The article discusses differences between this project and previous LA Metro projects in terms of management and design coordination and communication. Earlier projects ran into difficulties, including the collapse of the Hollywood Boulevard tunnel. A related article describes progress at the Boyle Heights station where excavation in preparation for launch of the tunnel boring machines was expected to begin by the end of 2005.
