Dublin: A Model for the Tramway of Tomorrow?

The European Union provided funds to rebuild the long-defunct tramways of Dublin, Ireland. Presently there are two lines in operation with plans for expansion. The tram cars were constructed by Alstom and will be operated by Connex Transport Ireland. Both Alstom and Connex are private companies, while the tram system is the property of the Irish government. This model is being considered for deployment in other European Union countries.
