Drawing the Line
Construction work zones on US roads are dangerous areas, with fatalities reaching an all-time record of 1,093 in 2000, up 26% from 1999. To protect both work crews and motorists, innovative traffic management strategies and technologies are being implemented nationwide. Barrier Systems has introduced its SafeGuard Link System, which is a crashworthy, heavily reinforced, longitudinal steel barrier. It provides protection to workers, motorists, and equipment. It requires no anchoring or foundations when used as a standalone barrier, and it can be used with portable concrete barriers to create controlled access points. The SafeGuard Link System purports to be the only portable work zone barrier (PCB) that (1) provides a free-standing movable steel barrier that positively separates and protects workers, motorists, and equipment, and (2) is easily attachable to PCBs. It enhances safety and saves time and costs.
