Palas, Basil and Bacara Come to the Aid of TGV Lines

High speed rail lines suffer from stresses that conventional railways do not. New track maintenance methods are required to handle the damage done to tracks by high speed trains. This article describes the problems caused by those stresses and examines some methods for repairing them. It also introduces three systems (Palas, Basil and Bacara) currently being used to maintain TGV train tracks in France.
