Passing the test

Subtitle: Airline customers and passengers expect aircraft to fly safety and reliably, no matter what, so every engine has to be thoroughly tested in line with the requirements set by airworthiness authorites. And aero engines have shown they are among the most reliable power sources in the world. Craig Brown looks at tests undertaken for the Trent 900, the latest version of the Trent to fly and due to go into service in 2006.
