SOIL FREEZING AND HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION
The various aspects of the problem of frost in highways are considered in this book. The latest scientific findings on the nature and behavior of freezing soils, the depth of frost penetration and climatic effects are reviewed. Current engineering practices in France and Canada are considered, and practical application of computer techniques in highway design for frost conditions is reviewd. The 12 authors of this book are experts in their fields which range from senior highway administration to scientific research. The book was prepared on the basis of a week-long meeting in Ottawa with some twenty participants from France and Canada, all professionally concerned with aspects of the problem of frost in highways.
