BIKEWAYS: PLANNING, DESIGN, IMPLEMENTATION

This report consists of two main sections. The first section has been derived from a comprehensive literature survey of selected Australian and overseas references dealing with all aspects of bikeways. Information extracted from these references has been compiled to provide a practical guide to bikeway planning, design, and implementation suitable for Australian conditions. Recommendations have also been made with regard to adequate provision of safety and educational procedures. The second section deals exclusively with the design of a bike path along gardiners creek valley. The design of this path took into account all the relevant criteria outlined in the preceding section. The final design consists of combined bicycle/pedestrian path, 9.6 km in length. /Author/TRRL/
