The book presents methods for analyzing and designing systems to control seepage and groundwater in foundations, hydraulic structures, earth dams, embankments, roads and airfields. The fundamental theory of seepage and drainage is presented and applied to practical engineering projects. The book is divided into two parts in which part 1 covers permeability, seepage fundamentals and flow net construction. Part 2 presents the practical application of the design of filters, drains and other measures for controlling seepage and groundwater. This edition also develops a new method for analyzing turbulent flow; summarizes agricultural drainage; shows how to prevent hydroplanning on pavements; explains increasement of seismic stability in dams; and describes rehabilitative procedures for water-endangered dams and pavements.
