An Alliance Viewpoint

The objective of this paper is to promote the need for transparency at all levels within an Alliance in order to deliver the best project outcome. The paper describes how Transit New Zealand (Transit) adopted Alliancing as a delivery model in 2000. Transit has completed its first Alliance and is 12 months into the second. Transit has a policy of having one Alliance in progress on a continuous basis with an overlap of up to one year. The first Alliance, for the NZ $120m Grafton Gully Project was completed ahead of schedule and very close to the target outturn cost. The second Alliance, for the NZ $360m ALPURTB2 project has been under construction since January 2005. This paper reflects on the collective view of over five years of Alliancing experiences.
