LINK VOLUME AND TURNING MOVEMENTS IN A UNIFORM STREET NETWORK

A highly formal, combinational solution is given for the problem of determining the turning probabilities in a uniform grid as a function of average trip length. In the process formulas are developed for such quantities as the number of trips from a given subregion to another (arbitrary) subregion, the number of trips which make a turn at a particular intersection, the number of possible routes between two given points, and many other possibly intersecting bits of information about travel patterns in the uniform grid. /GMRL/
