UPGRADE FOR THE DIGITAL WORK ZONE : QUICKZONE NOW HANDLES MORE COMPLEX PROJECTS AND MORE PERFORMANCE MEASURES
This article looks at the performance and capabilities of QuickZone, a work zone traffic delay estimation tool. With the debut of the enhanced QuickZone 2.0 version, advanced mitigation features are now available, such as: 1) improved two-way, one-lane operations modeling; 2) enhanced detour modeling with increased travel time tracking; and, 3) improved ability for modeling more complex projects with multiple work zones. In addition, a wider variety of performance measures are now available for users to track, graph and analyze. These include total mainline queue length, total mainline vehicle hours delay, total passenger car costs, total travel time in minutes, and detour delay costs. The article offers examples of how QuickZone has been used in different stages of development in rural as well as urban area applications.
