TRANSPORTATION AGITATION : GROWTH CONTINUES DESPITE FUNDING LAG
This special supplement on transportation presents an overview on the growth taking place in U.S. airports, seaports, bridges, and roads, despite the funding challenges. Airports are reporting increases in both passenger traffic and cargo. While the government budget doesn't fully meet the needs of the aviation industry infrastructure, there is significant federal attention directed at airport security and terrorism prevention. Seaports are impacted by low funding at the federal level as well as dredging projects. Public-private partnerships are sustaining road programs. Ten significant projects that are under construction are profiled. They include: Garden Grove Freeway in California, Portland Aerial Tram, Hoover Dam Bypass, State Highway 130 in Texas, Orange County Transportation Corridor, Miami International Airport, Ohio River Bridges, Dallas High Five Interchange, Washington Dulles International Airport, and Oregon Dept. of Transportation's Oregon Transportation Investment Act III (OTIA III) Delivery Program.
