MEASUREMENT ON DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF TRACK NEAR RAIL JOINTS AND PREDICTION OF TRACK SETTLEMENT

In this paper, the authors measure factors related to track dynamic behavior such as dynamic wheel loads and rail seat forces located around a rail joint that are induced by running trains. A track dynamic model is used to examine the excitation by wheels that pass over discontinuous rail joints. In addition, the authors propose a model for predicting ballast settlement near rail joints. The effects of countermeasures against joint dips on ballast settlement are also calculated.
