Profile of the British Learner Drivers
It has long been known that young and novice drivers are seriously over-represented in accidents the world over. This paper describes the British Cohort I project which was launched in 1988 and provided valuable input to the British government policy on driver training and testing. iCohort II project has been carried out in order to provide up to date information about learner and novice drivers that can inform Department for Transport policy. The paper presents some interim results on learning to drive and taking the driving test from the British Cohort II project.
