Optimising Wagon and Track Maintenance
The Transportation Technology Center Inc (TTCI) has developed several processes and systems that directly address wagon and track maintenance. An emerging philosophy developed by TTCI is to use actual test and detector results to determine when to remove a faulty wagon that can damage the track and how to identify and correct poor track conditions that cause undesirable vehicle performance. The article identifies the main objectives of TTCI's new philosophy: to reduce the level of dynamic loads exerted on the track structure by reducing the stress state of the railway and to improve train operating safety.
