Modelling Wave Reflection and Transmission around Nearshore Structures

This paper describes a recently developed numerical modeling system, which is capable of taking account of wave reflection from a group of nearshore breakwaters and the effect of the leakage through “leaky” nearshore structures. The model, which also includes other nearshore processes, such as wave-current interaction and wave breaking, was tested against the experimental data obtained from tests over a complex topography and a group of scaled-down breakwaters. Comparisons of the computed results of wave height and wave-induced current with measurement showed that the model performed well in reproducing nearshore hydrodynamics.
