ECONOMICAL HIGHWAY BRIDGE DESIGNS USING EARTH AND STEEL

This paper describes experiences covering the construction of several bridges with spans up to approximately 11 metres using armco "multi-plate" super-span culverts to carry highways over minor roads, a road over a dual track railway, and a heavy duty mine haul road over a highway. This type of structure has proven to be quick and easy to construct, with costs typically one third of those of a conventional bridge. /Author/TRRL/
