Fly Ash Intermixes: A Path Towards Sustainable Cement Production

This study prepared new supplementary cementing materials (SCM) from mixing two types of fly ashes, of typical composition, in several proportions. The efficiency of the new products was examined in terms of pozzolanic activity, compressive strength development and CH depletion rate. The study demonstrated that using intermixtures based on two types of fly ash is an effective means foe dealing with mutual shortcomings related with each type of fly ash. It was further determined that synergistic effects between the two sample ashes can occur that may further improve the performance of the final product.
