The aim of this project is to form a basis for the manufacture and choice of diesel engines with emission control for underground mining and construction. This will be made by establishing a representative loading cycle for emission tests. In this test cycle laboratory measurements of exhaust emissions will be carried out and eligible emission levels will be specified. The cycle will comprise transient processes and is trying to equal rock loading equipment. This report is an inventory of diesel powered vehicles regarding type, extent and fuel consumption. Data on type of machinery and engine and engine power are presented. The rock loading equipment accounts for 50% of the underground fuel consumption and the report recommends that a loading cycle is established for this type of vehicle. /TRRL/
