METHODS FOR TESTING OF CORROSION FATIGUE, DENTING AND ABRASION RESISTANCE OF BRAKE TUBING

PROVNINGSMETODER FOER BROMSROERS HAERDIGHET MOT KORROSIONSUTMATTNING, TILLBUCKLING OCH NOETNING

The report presents methods for mechanical testing and evaluation of brake tubing. The methods involve testing of resistance to corrosion fatigue, abrasion and deformation caused by stones and grit. Suitable apparatus for the tests has also been developed. In the fatigue tests u-formed test pieces are bent with an alternative movement in a solution of 3% sodium chloride. Abrasion is tested with a micro blast in a defined way and the depth of abrasion is estimated. The deformation testing is carried out by means of a drop hammer. /TRRL/
