Transport Terminals and Modal Interchanges: Planning and Design
This book reviews trends in public transit systems towards multi-modal interchanges that have been active since mass transit began but have only recently come of age. It explains how separate modes of transit are brought together and linked, enabling transit designers and authorities to exploit interchange opportunities more effectively. The author uses some international case studies to illustrate how existing examples were planned and designed, and ideas to improve transfer and mobility in future projects are also outlined. Specifically, the book: 1) provides essential information on multi-modal terminals; 2) is well illustrated and universally relevant; 3) understands how 'joined up thinking' is applied on a large scale.
