THEORY OF KINEMATIC SHOCK WAVES AND APPLICATIONS TO URBAN TRAFFIC

THEORIE DES ONDES DE CHOC CINEMATIQUES ET APPLICATIONS AU TRAFIC URBAIN (THESE 3 EME CYCLE)

The theory of kinematic shock waves is the basic model utilised in this note. A theoretical study allows the problems of a mathematical order to be considered as well as those resulting from the presentation. Research into different shock wave configurations has numerous applications, such as the study of bottlenecks, intersections or synchronisation. New operational parameters can thus be obtained (clearance time for a bottleneck, number of vehicles at rest, delay) which allow optimisation of the functions chosen.
