Update: Certification Status and Future Plans

The idea of a professional transportation certification program began in 1988, and ten years later, in 1998, the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Board of Directors provided essential support in the form of a loan to make certification a reality. This certification update report focuses on two areas: the history and decisions that developed the first certification in transportation and traffic engineering, and future directions for the transportation professional certification board..
