Poles Apart: Poland's Biggest Cable-Stayed Bridge
After a dramatic increase in traffic through the Polish town of Plock, located on the banks of the Weichsel River, the existing bridge could no longer cope with the volume of traffic to Warsaw, some 120 km away. The article reviews the plans and future construction of the new Plock Bridge which will be the biggest cable-stayed structure in the country. The structure will be 1,200 m long including 585 m of access spans and the main bridge, a 615 m cable stayed structure. The construction is scheduled for completion in the middle of this year.
