The World's First Automobile Fatality
This article describes the world's first automobile fatality. The accident took place in a small town in Ireland in 1869. The victim, Mary Ward, was a well known microscopist, artist, astronomer and naturalist, was thrown from a steam carriage and died after crash injuries within a few minutes. On the death certificate, cause of death is given as 'accidental fall from steam engine'.
